Project area representatives are brought together to convene a Region III Infertility Prevention Project Advisory Committee
three times per year. Advisory committee members are composed of STD, family planning and laboratory professionals from each
project area. Committee members also include project area Chlamydia Coordinators, medical consultants, provider representatives,
representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Office of Population Affairs (OPA), and other
interested project area participants and topic area experts.
The committee acts in an advisory capacity to implement the goals of the CDC National Infertility Prevention Project on a regional and local level. Regional Advisory Committee meetings are structured to enhance project area efforts in realizing national, regional and local IPP goals and objectives in the prevention of STD-related infertility. Meeting agendas are developed to enhance program functioning by sharing "best practice" models, recent STD research findings and local program challenges and successes. Additionally, meetings are focused on sharing/discussing CDC and OPA priorities, guidance and expectations. Project area partner representatives from family planning organizations, sexually transmitted disease public health departments, and public health laboratory directors must attend each meeting. |
