The Division of STD Prevention at CDC has developed national program priorities for the IPP. These priorities are considered the primary foundation for the framework of each regional infertility prevention project. These program priorities are:

  •  Expand and target chlamydia screening to young, sexually active women in public and private settings.

  •  Incorporate analysis of regional prevalence monitoring data for regional and local data-directed program planning.

  •  Improve appropriate and timely treatment for persons diagnosed with chlamydial infection and their partners.

  •  Promote the use of high quality diagnostic tests for chlamydia.

  •  Increase adoption of "best practice" prevention strategies to reduce efficiency of chlamydia transmission.
