If you have ever been sexually active, it is important to seek reproductive health care that includes testing for
sexually transmitted infections.
What to Do If You Think You Have an STD
The only way to know for sure if you have an STD is to get tested. STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea can be treated
with antibiotics. If you have an STD, your partner(s) must get tested and treated too – even if they don't have symptoms. If they don't
get treated they can spread the STD – they might even give it to you again!
Not having sex is the best way to protect yourself from STDs.
Having sex with only one partner who doesn't have an STD and who only has sex with you is also safe.
If you choose to have sex, you can lower your risk of getting an STD by using a latex condom every time you have sex.
